Range and Damage: First and foremost, I think Range and Damage are our biggest problems at this point. In our current state, the Risk vs. Reward mechanic is clearly out of balance, in favor of Risk. In order to be effective, we are required to spend long periods of time sitting very close to the front lines, which obviously puts us in danger from both melee dps but also puts us into a position where we're vulnerable to ranged dps. with no decent way to defend ourselves, such as useful resist buffs, silences, disarms and so on.
All those things which we would assume would go hand in hand with a defensive ranged caster. Having to put ourselves in such a dangerous or vulnerable position. Furthermore, even Risk vs. Reward aside, relative to other classes with equivalent gear and renown ranks, is clearly subpar at the moment.
Utility: It is also vastly lacking since 1.30b. Our only real utility to speak of was always Rift, the debuff from Glean Magic, and our CC. Since we now hold a root, knockback, stun, snare, and one interrupt on a 10 second recast, we can chalk up 3 forms of CC to two immunity timers--KB, Rift and Root all being on one timer, KD/stun on another.
Being that KB and Root are really our only truly reliable, defensive CC our utility is seriously lacking, especially when compared to a pure DPS class like the Bright Wizard/Sorcerer, whom can realistically do almost everything utility-wise that we can and have drastically higher damage output. We think this also results in our lack of identity.
